Poems and an occasional Essay
Ruminations of an Angry Cow
Laying Flowers on the Tomb of Peace
I’m sorry for
unprovoked attacks,
eyes for preemptive eyes
Ring Around Corona
Ring-a-round the rosie,
Respiratory droplets,
A pocket full of posies,
Toilet paper in our closets,
So Much Happiness It Kills You
With happy castration,
how we frolic away
while elastic bands squeeze our nuts
waiting for eventual decay
This Wasn’t in the Parenting Handbook
Their walls of sadness surround them, engulf them
An isolation of suffering that threatens to suffocate them
When So Many Wanted You to Stay Home
Armed with only your books and your unbelievably strong determination
You walked

Screaming with My Indoor Voice
Be polite, they tell us,
don’t shout with the truth
as we steal the future
breath by breath from the youth
Truth Is a Cobalt Blue Vase
As long as I could remember, she had loved flowers
In her gardens, on her table
When You Tire of Eating Vulture Food, Stegosaurus Food Awaits
Everyone always uses “rabbit food” when comparing
a vegan diet to that of another animal,
as if that were the only herbivore known to man
Just Because It Rhymes Doesn’t Make It True
When two vowels go walking…
a lot of shit can happen
Locked Up in the Land of the Free
We fled here for safety,
they said it was great
You bragged about freedom,
I’m locked in a crate
And I Thought You Liked “Telling It Like It Is”
But when we point out
that Trump is a racist, y’all
get all snowflakey
You’re Not Being Pushed Away from Compassion, You’re Choosing to Run
You don’t have to join any group, sign up for any newsletter, or even socialize with vegans. We’re just asking that you choose some rice and beans and cashews and clementines and save some animals, and maybe still save the planet too.
Mexico Said No, Though You Never Ask for Consent
Standard procedure, par for your course
You don’t seek permission, you have no remorse
Meddling, Malevolent Marmots
Not “human trapping, killing, and widespread trading of the marmot’s fur infected thousands.” Nope. Just like “humans were minding our own damn business and the evil fucking marmots infected us.”
When Escape Only Leads to What You Were Running From
His supposed sanctuary was already filled with the bodies of his bovine brethren,
dismantled and displayed in coolers kept frozen to impede their decay
